John Abbott Patterns

All work done with traditional hot lime mix. Ceiling work, fire surround and mantle done in hot lime mix using 16th century designs from the pattern book of the Devonshire plasterer John Abbott, whose son and grandson carried on the tradition of free-hand decorative plaster-work in situ across the West Country during the 16th and up to the mid 17th centuries. The ceiling was done on a 15th century manor house – Glebe House in Devonshire.
